KANNUR: The remand report of the criminal case accused Arjun Ayanki, who was shifted to the Thalassery Special Sub Jail, has come out, stating that granting him bail could encourage those involved in criminal activities. According to the report, if a person involved in several criminal cases is granted bail, he could take the legal system lightly and repeat criminal activities. It also states that he may attempt to destroy evidence and influence witnesses.

The report further says that granting bail to Ayanki could encourage others involved in similar criminal activities. It also states that Ayanki needs to be taken into custody for further investigation as police have found the mobile phone allegedly used to post against the Home Minister.

Police took Ayanki into custody from an apartment in Kannur city early on Sunday. Police traced him by examining CCTV footage after he travelled from Taliparamba by autorickshaw and later by car.
A case was registered against him based on a complaint alleging that he had insulted the Home Minister. He was produced before the Koothuparamba magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

Ayanki is expected to move a bail application on Monday. As many as 23 cases have been registered against him across the state. Police are also moving to invoke the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) against him by submitting a report describing him as a habitual offender.
