Arjun Ayanki remanded for 14 days; shifted to Thalassery special sub jail

KANNUR: The Koothuparambu Magistrate Court has remanded Arjun Ayanki, accused in the criminal case for 14 days. He has been remanded in the case registered by the Kannur cyber police. He has been shifted to Thalassery special sub jail. The Oonnukal police will submit an application before the Kannur court tomorrow seeking his formal arrest. Reports say that Arjun Ayanki has not yet filed a bail plea.

Meantime, Arjun Ayanki’s younger brother, Ajay Ayanki, was granted station bail. He was released on surety of two people. The first person to arrive to stand surety was a goonda leader, whom the police placed under preventive detention. Later, another brother, Akhil Ayanki, arrived and stood as surety.

The police had conducted extensive searches both within and outside the state over the past few days for Arjun Ayanki, who had been absconding. During this period, Arjun reportedly evaded the investigation team by travelling in different vehicles.

Despite being on the run, he remained active on social media. He also shared a QR code on an Instagram story seeking funds to meet the expenses of conducting the case. The story said, ‘Support the case by generously contributing to the case fund. Enemies are simply spreading false claims that I am involved in gold smuggling and that I am a millionaire.’ He also posted the song titled ‘naya paisa illa’ on his story.
