Special gift from private individual for auto driver, who gave information of Arjun Ayanki

KOCHI: Reward for auto driver who gave vital information to the police leading to the arrest of Arjun Ayanki, accused in the criminal case. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said that a private individual has informed him that he is ready to give a reward of Rs one lakh. Chennithala said that a person concerned about the public interest had contacted him by phone expressing willingness to pay the amount, and that the money would be handed over directly to the driver in Payyannur. The minister said the driver’s action was exemplary and praised him for his act.

Arjun Ayanki, who was on the run and defying the police and the government, was arrested from Kannur Sunday morning in the search that lasted for more than two days. He was arrested from a lawyer's house by a team led by the Northern Region DIG.

An auto driver from Payyannur gave the police crucial information to arrest Arjun Ayanki. He had come to meet the lawyer in this auto. The driver became suspicious as soon as he saw Arjun Ayanki and informed the police. He was arrested during a subsequent search. Arjun Ayanki, who was arrested, was remanded for 14 days by the Koothuparamba Magistrate's Court. The remand is in the case registered by the Kannur Cyber Police. He has been shifted to the Thalassery Special Sub-Jail.
