Plus Two no longer mandatory for degree admission; Higher Education Dept issues new order

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Plus Two is no longer mandatory for securing undergraduate admission in various universities and affiliated colleges in the state. Those with diploma and ITI qualifications will be able to get admission in undergraduate programs. With the new decision coming into effect, those who have passed ITI will be able to get admission in any course in colleges

Those who have passed ITI after class 10 can get direct admission to the first year of undergraduate courses. Those who have completed a three-year polytechnic diploma after class 10 and those who have completed a two-year diploma after class 12 can get direct admission to the third semester of undergraduate courses through lateral entry. The Higher Education Department issued an order clarifying the qualifications related to this.

This method will be implemented for admissions from the academic year 2027-28. The decision is based on the recommendation of the Higher Education Department. The Director of Technical Education has been instructed to officially communicate the order to all universities and polytechnics in the state.
