Crowdfunding for Arjun Ayanki leads to arrest of Ajay Ayanki

KOZHIKODE: Ajay Ayanki (24), brother of criminal case accused Arjun Ayanki has also been arrested. The police arrested Ajay for crowdfunding on social media to Arjun’s account. Ajay was the one who prepared and provided the QR code on social media for the crowdfunding campaign conducted for Arjun. He was taken into custody at 12.30 am on Sunday from the front of an online delivery firm in East Nadakkavu.

Meantime, the police team arrested Arjun Ayanki from an apartment in Kannur early Sunday morning at 2.30 am. He reached Kannur to seek legal help from his friends, a lawyer couple.

Arjun fled to Payyannur in an auto when he was sure that the police would reach his hideout. He called his friend from the auto driver's phone and asked him to come with the car. Arjun Ayanki then reached Kannur to meet his lawyer friends in this car.

The auto driver, who grew suspicious, informed the Kannur police. The police reached the spot later, examined the CCTV footage and surrounded Arjun.

A police team led by the DIG arrested Arjun from the lawyers’ house. Arjun Ayanki was the only one in the apartment at the time of the incident. He tried to flee seeing the police, but was chased and caught.
