Silver horns missing from Hanuman Temple near legislative assembly; probe begins

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The silver horns studded with precious stones, which are part of the sacred ornaments (Thiruvabharanams) of the OTC Hanuman Temple near the Legislative Assembly building, have gone missing. The ornaments were kept in the strong room of Valiyasala Devaswom. The Travancore Devaswom Board President K Jayakumar has directed to conduct an immediate investigation in the incident.

The silver horns were found missing when the ornaments kept in the strong room were inspected based on the register after the new administrative officer took charge on September 9. The silver horns were donated by a devotee in 1992. Each horn was studded with 12 blue stones.

The strong room will be opened and inspected on September 28 under the leadership of Travancore Devaswom Board Thiruvabharana Commissioner R Rejilal.
