SIT formed against Pinarayi Vijayan in monthly payment case; SP Vikraman to investigate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations against Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan in the monthly payment case. Crime Branch SP Vikraman has been entrusted with the investigation. The probe will be conducted under the supervision of Crime Branch ADGP H. Venkatesh. Three DySPs have also been included in the team. SP Vikraman is also the investigating officer in the SIT formed under ADGP P Vijayan to probe the Messi controversy.

The Home Department had earlier ordered a preliminary inquiry against former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter Veena T and former minister P.A. Mohammed Riyas in the monthly payment case. The action was based on a letter from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and legal opinions provided by the Advocate General (AG) and the Director General of Police (DGP).

The newly constituted SIT has been directed to complete the preliminary inquiry within 30 days and submit a report. A decision on whether to register a case and proceed with the investigation or hand over the matter to the Vigilance will be taken thereafter.
