
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department announced the possibility of heavy rains in Kerala today. An orange alert was issued in seven districts and a yellow alert in others due to the possibility of heavy rains in North and Central Kerala. Strict restrictions have been imposed on fishing along the Kerala coast due to the possibility of strong winds with a speed of 40 to 60 kmph along the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts.
In view of the continued heavy rains, a holiday has been declared for educational institutions in Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts today. The holiday is applicable to all educational institutions from Anganwadis to professional colleges. However, there will be no change in the scheduled public examinations. The Disaster Management Authority warned people to avoid unnecessary travel and not to go near water bodies.
