Youtuber Helen of Sparta's license revoked for drunk-driving offence

KASARAGOD: The driving license of YouTuber Helen of Sparta, aka SR Dhanya, was suspended for three months. She will also have to attend a three-day training course by the Motor Vehicles Department.

The police registered a case against Dhanya for drunk driving last month. Dhanya had parked her car in the middle of the road on National Highway 66. By the time the police arrived, the car had sped away. Later, the officers chased and caught her in Bhagwati Nagar, near Bandiyod.

Subsequent checks revealed that she was driving in an inebriated condition. During interrogation, Dhanya admitted that she had consumed beer.

"I got the same penalty as a normal person gets for drunk driving. I never encourage anyone to drink alcohol. The police seized the vehicle during the inspection. The propaganda that there was MDMA in the vehicle is wrong. The vehicle did not stop during the inspection because people would recognise me. I saw the news that I was absconding and that the police took my vehicle into custody. Some people are saying that MDMA was seized from the vehicle. This is false. I had a beer during an event. I should not have driven the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped in front of my house. The police asked if I was drunk, and I admitted to my wrong. It was my fault. I am very, very sorry," Dhanya had said in a video shared on social media.
