Teacher Kavya gets bail after 58 days in custody: High Court relief in Vadakara MDMA case

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has granted bail to teacher Kavya, the third accused in the Vadakara MDMA case, subject to strict conditions. One of the main arguments in her bail plea was that the NDPS case could not be sustained as the MDMA seized was below the commercial quantity threshold. The High Court granted bail after finding that her continued judicial custody was not necessary.

Another accused in the case, Keerthana, had earlier been granted bail. Kavya was arrested by the police on July 25. The investigation team had alleged that Kavya had a clear role in financial transactions linked to the MDMA. Police had also said that she was a key person involved in transactions made through bank accounts.

The fourth accused, Neeshma, and the fifth accused, Jijil Kuriyakose, are currently in custody. Their bail pleas are also expected to be considered by the High Court in the coming days.
