‘If you don’t have money, go and die;’ Three arrested on businessman’s suicide 

SURAT: Three people have been arrested in the suicide of a businessman, who took the drastic step due to mental stress after his friends refused to return him the money he had lent to them. Rajeshbhai Kunjadiya, an embroidery businessman who lived in Surat’s Sarthana, Surat, committed suicide by consuming poison on July 30.

Rajeshbhai had lent Rs 17.32 lakh to his friends. His suicide note mentioned that he faced constant threats and mental harassment from his friends. The names of his friends are Ghanshyam Ahir, Nikit (Ricky) and Dadhi Ahir.

Rajeshbhai of Junagadh lived in Surat with his wife and two children. After facing losses in his business, he sold his embroidery machines and got Rs 14 lakh. He had lent this money to his friend Ghanshyam Ahir, who told him that he wanted to go to Canada.

When he asked him to return the money, Ghanshyam had asked Rajeshbhai to open multiple accounts in six banks claiming to be useful for financial transactions. However, it was later found that Ghanshyam was using these accounts for cyber fraud and then Rajesh opposed it. The police investigation also found that he had threatened Rajesh by saying that he would implicate him in cybercrimes.

Rajesh had also lent Rs 2 lakh to Nikit and Rs 1.32 lakh to Dadhi Ahir. Instead of returning the money, the three of them humiliated Rajesh. They even told him, ‘If you don’t have money, just go and die.’

Rajeshbhai consumed poison on July 30 after writing a suicide note naming his three friends and kept it in his vehicle. He was admitted to the hospital due to his deteriorating health, but died during treatment. The police, who have registered a case of unnatural death, arrested the three after examining the suicide note, statements of relatives and other evidence.
